It is common knowledge that the bottom surfaces and rear surface should be clear of the stock and recierver, About 6/16 of an inche or a bit more, should be enough in these areas. The question of how to fit the front of the HG into the front band is the issue. Looks about right for a issue M-1. They are not attached to the rear band. I would worry more about the fit on the bottom to the gas cylinder. Make sure it's centered on the squre piece on the rear of the cylinder.
